Event Description

Hospice Wellington would like to invite our community to attend an intentional ceremony to be held on Sunday, September 24th at Hospice Wellington, 795 Scottsdale Avenue in Guelph, to honour this past year’s Community Weave in a ceremonial Despacho ceremony. This ceremony is a burning ritual to provide space for compassionate reflection and community connectivity. All community members, Hospice Wellington volunteers and staff are invited to attend this ceremony, which will directly precede our monthly Memorial Service.

For the past five years, Hospice Wellington has engaged within the creation of its Community Weave, created annually at our Hike for Hospice community event. The Community Weave provides a gentle invitation to all supported by our organization, individuals and families contributing reflections and memories connected to lives passed through its colourful fabric strips woven together to create a living legacy. Each year, the Community Weave is hung on our Residential Level and engaged with by families throughout the year who continue to contribute meaning and memory to this evolving creation.

The Community Weave has become a significant ritual experience to those connected to Hospice Wellington, including families and friends of our Residential and Community Services, our compassionate Volunteer team and dedicated staff. We look forward to seeing our community come together for this impactful event.
