Event Description

Local mixed-media artist, Sarah Mousseau, will lead four outdoor art-making activities that are open and free to the public during the month of August at Guelph Farmers’ Market.

The project, titled “Seascapes,” invites community members to help create whimsical sea creatures which will then be installed in the trees and green-space in front of the Farmers’ Market over Culture Days weekend, September 29 – October 1.

August 5 – Exotic Fish
August 12 – Crustaceans
August 19 – Octopuses
August 26 – Coral

Each Saturday, participants will work together to build these creatures which will be created with repurposed materials. The final installation will create a magical underwater garden where octopus tentacles hang low, crustaceans crawl through the grass, schools of fish flutter in the breeze, and colourful coral crawls up the trunks of the trees.

About the Artist: Sarah Mousseau is a working artist living in Guelph. As a member of the Necessary Arts Collective, she hosts creativity workshops for the public and has just had her first successful showing at Art on the Street earlier this year. A graduate of Humber College’s Visual and Digital Arts program, she also holds a diploma in Film and Television Production. Her practice of mixed media allows her to bring in juxtaposing elements that create conversation and texture.
